IPhone 8 Emails

Hi,

can anyone help, I have just bought an IPhone 8 and set it up.

The problem I have is with Emails.

It appears to continually download old Emails from years back into the inbox.

Is there any way to stop this or a quick way to delete all these messages as they come in. As soon as I delete them the inbox is just filling back up again.
