All of a sudden i can't see the screenshots in the desktop folder, i use "Cmd + Shift + 4". Already tried relaunching the Finder, rebooting the laptop, turning off the laptop and turning it back on, checking the keyboard options and nothing has worked.

After you press "command + shift + 5", click on Options and make sure "Desktop" is selected.
Did you recently install Dropbox? If so, there is a Dropbox setting that intercepts screenshots and places them in a folder inside the Dropbox folder.
No, i haven't installed dropbox at all
You are not using the correct key sequence, read my response and the info at the link I provided.
The screenshots are being taken, the problem is that they are not saved in the desktop folder or "recents" folder
