MacBook Pro 15" 2017 Battery Draining While Charging

Recently, I have noticed that my MacBook Pro battery continues to drain if I use it even when it is connected to the original power adapter. The battery sign shows that it is charging, but 11% either stays at 11% or slowly goes down. I have to dim brightness all the way and only use one application at a time to even make it inch upwards. This makes it nearly impossible to continue working throughout the day without one or two hour long charge breaks. I contacted apple support and they made me run diagnostic while the adapter was plugged in (everything checked out). Their advice was to reset the SMC and limit energy intensive activities while I was on low battery. The issue is that I am typically only using two or three applications like Word and Safari on medium brightness. Not playing any intense games or editing videos.

Also, my MacBook is pretty new (~6 months old) and I am using the out of box accessories. All software is up to date. I have had older MacBooks that worked wonderfully even when the battery was 8 years old as long as they were connected to the power adapter.

Anyone have a similar problem?

Is this something I should get checked out? If so, what would be the best way to frame the problem as apple support already didn't help much.

Or is this just how the new MacBook Pro line works?
