Connect Mac to wireless printer without usb cable

How do I get my MacBook to connect to my printer? It will not recognize the connection even though they both have the same WiFi network.

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.14

Follow the printer's wifi setup instructions to connect it to your WIFI network. Then add the printer in your system preferences.
