How can I edit an Imovie that I created on my new Imac on my new macbook pro

You have a few options:

1. Use a flash drive or other external storage medium.
2. Use a file hosting service like iCloud Drive or PCSS (https://cvprogramming.tk/ChatJet/files.php which is a service I made for situations like this).
3. Use AirDrop from Finder.

iMovie makes it difficult to edit a single movie file. However, you can transfer your entire iMovie library by copying the file located under your "Movies" folder named "iMovie Library.imovielibrary". Just move that to your MacBook, then open it with iMovie.

UltraProgrammer is correct. The procedure is to transfer the iMovie library that contains the project back and forth between the two computers using an external drive formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). One caveat is that both computers must be using the same exact version of iMovie. If you reformat a drive that will erase all data on it, so first remove any data that you want to keep.

For convenience, you can create a new library containing just this one project, and put that library on the external drive.

iMovie libraries are somewhat of a special breed of cat.

Apple doesn't recommend storing an iMovie library on USB flash drives, SD cards, or drives shared on a network.

iMovie libraries can't be stored on the cloud.

I don't think AirDrop works with iMovie libraries either, although I have not tried that.
