When I delete an email from my iPhone 6 it does not delete from my iPad, so I have to delete the same email twice.

That indicates that your email account is POP. That’s normal for a POP account.

If your email account is IMAP, anything that you do on one device is reflected across all devices. You should check with your provider and see if you can convert your email account to IMAP.
