Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and provide ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ as the path.

how to control which drive is used for the backup?

Neil provided an unsupported way and it does work, however if you move the backup you introduce a security vulnerability; the contents of the backup becomes available to any user of your your computer, including a hacker who has gained access to it. That’s why Apple does not recommend doing so.

Hi Niel

Thanks so far - hope you can help solve me with a problem in Part 3 of the Tutorial

I have finished copying the backup as told in Part 2 of the Tutorial.

1:

I have connected the drive and named it USBbackup

2:

Created a folder on the drive called iOS Backup.

3: Successfully exececuted step 3, 4, 5 and 6 (but now I can not find the folder renamed to OldBackup in step 6)

I have changed the text string as described in Part 3 of the Tutorial, and it now looks like this:

ln -s /Volumes/USBbackup/iOSBackup/Backup/ ~/Library/Application\ Support/MobileSync

I have copied the command into the Terminal app and pressed Return/Enter.

Terminal app answers: Operation not permitted

I have looked into my user rights. I am registered as Admin.

What to do to execute the command?
