AirTag in Find My app only shows Directions

I paired an AirTag with my wife’s iPhone 16e updated to iOS 26.2. When she opens the Find My app she only has a Directions options, which opens Maps. She doesn’t have the standard AirTag search with detailed directions.

I have checked all settings and everything seems to be in order.

She is a member of my family, I don’t know if this means anything. My son is also a family member and everything works fine for him.

What can I do?

Thank you for your help.

Your iPhone 16e does not have a fault.

The iPhone 16e does not support Precision Finding for items like AirTags - because it lacks the necessary Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip that is incorporated in the standard iPhone 16 models and newer (excluding the SE line).

As such, as you have observed, you will only see the basic Bluetooth-derived Find My features without the directional arrow guidance.  Precision Finding is hardware dependent.
