AVP sound won’t play out of AirPods. Sound only plays from built in speakers.

Apple Vision Pro sound ONLY out of built in speakers, won’t play out of AirPods

hi there, this is driving me crazy. I have two brand new pairs of AirPods Pro third generation. They both connect to all of my devices and connect to the Apple Vision Pro through Bluetooth with no issues. AVP shows they are connected. But no matter what app I’m using whether it’s the internal sounds, Apple TV, HBO Max, etc. the sounds all only play from all apps out of the built in AVP speakers, never through the AirPods, even though they are connected, and show connected in the control center, and in settings.

I’ve reset and re-paired them 17 times. I’ve turned the AVP pro on and off. I’ve even reset it.

No matter what I do the AirPods pros show connected, but the sound doesn’t play from them.

How do I fix this insanity?
