Why doesn't my cordless mouse work when the dongle is in one of the front USB-C ports?

I have an M4 mac mini running Tahoe 26.1.

I have a cordless logicool mouse, with dongle. It works fine on all my other computers.

If I plug the dongle in one of the rear USB-C ports (Thunderbolt), the mouse works fine. However, if I put it in one of the front ports, then it works fine for a few minutes, and then becomes very sticky, and finally completely useless. Why is this happening? Is it normal behaviour? If so, Why? If not, what is wrong?
