Blu-ray Disc won't mount to display drive icon.

It's unclear from your post whether or not you are merely connecting the BluRay drive to your MBPro or actually inserting a disc into the drive. No icon will appear on your desktop unless there is a disc in the player.

If there IS a disc in the player, try using a different USB-C port on your MBPro.

Mount or Remount the Drive in Disk Utility:

So, is the drive not showing up on the software's window where it should? Open Disk Utility, and see if you need to Mount the drive.

2. Click: Go menu
3. Click: Utilities
4. Open: Disk Utility app
5. Select: the drive
6. Click: Mount --If already mounted, click Unmount, and then click Mount.

Are you using the cable that came with the drive?

Are you using any kind of cable adapter (e.g. USB-A to USB-C), dock or usb hub with the drive?

Does the drive work with a regular DVD or CD disk?

To check the connection, connect the drive to power & your MBPro. Then open System Report > Hardware > USB. Does the XRTFORE drive show up there?

(Note, the method to open the System Report has changed in the past few releases of macOS. In Sequoia it's  >About This Mac > More Info > System Report. I don't have Tahoe so I cannot tell if the route changed again.)

This has been an issue in macOS since the release of Catalina. It's not your drive, cable or anything else to do with your gear. macOS simply won't show disk icons for nearly any Blu-ray disks.

The disk is very likely mounted, but you can't see it. Unless it's changed yet again in Tahoe, you should at least see the disk's name on the desktop. Are you getting at least that, or nothing at all?

Well, at least that's proof of an issue with the XRTFORE drive as the Archon works as expected.

In that case, it could be the XRTFORE's laser may have gone out, or isn't producing a strong enough laser anymore. Or, since the lens on all CD/DVD/Blu-ray drives face up, it could be very dirty.

They sell special cleaning disks for optical drives that have small brushes affixed to what would be the data side (facing down when inserted) so they, hopefully, brush the lens clean as it spins.

The Blu-ray cleaning disks always cost more than a CD/DVD cleaning disk. As I look at the ones I have, the Blu-ray cleaner is designed much differently. Multiple small brushes rather than one larger one.

Are your Finder > Settings configured to show optical discs on the Desktop?
