Ordered iPhone online with 0% finance - does this enroll me into the upgrade programme?

Hello.

I just ordered the iPhone 17 Pro with 24 monthly installments via the UK Apple online store.

I had thought that this enrolled me into the upgrade programme - because it said on the pay monthly option 'upgrade anytime'. However, I have since noticed an article on the Apple website saying that these plans have to be taken out in store...? Is this the case? Or does this just mean that, after my 11th payment, I'd need to do the upgrade in a store?

I don't know the answer to that, but see the footnote on the UK "Buy iPhone 17 Pro" page that says

"§§ To upgrade, trade in your existing iPhone; your loan will be closed and any remaining trade-in value is credited to your new iPhone. If the trade-in value of your device is less than the outstanding value of your loan, you will need to make up the remainder of the payment when you purchase. Or if you decide to apply the whole trade-in value to lower the cost of your new iPhone, you will be responsible for closing your existing loan."

Sounds like the upgrade program is a combination of

  • Paying off the remaining balance of your loan, in full; and
  • Trading in your old iPhone for whatever Apple would normally offer through the trade-in program (which might be less than the remaining balance of your loan)
