Apple Music Now Playing controls unreadable after OS update; is there a fix that doesn’t require changing global settings?
After the most recent OS update, Apple Music moved the Now Playing controls into a low-contrast bar at the bottom of the window. I genuinely cannot see or read it anymore. The controls are hard to find, hard to read, and visually disappear against the background.
I also can’t move or pin this control area to the top of the window, where primary controls normally live and where users expect them. There’s now a large, mostly empty white area at the top of the app, while essential playback controls are hidden below in an unreadable location.
I’m looking for an actual fix or workaround that does not involve changing system-wide contrast or accessibility settings. Every other app on this Mac works perfectly with my current configuration. I shouldn’t have to adjust global visual settings just to compensate for what looks like a bad UI decision in Apple Music.
Has anyone found a way to:
• restore the controls to the top,
• increase their visibility without affecting the whole OS, or
• bypass Apple Music’s UI entirely using another app or controller?
At this point I’m open to considering third-party players, plugins, or anything that overrides or avoids the current Apple Music UI. I’ve used Apple Music since the first version of iTunes, and this change feels like a clear regression in usability. It also feels like a slap in the face.
