HomePod Minis bricked after breaking stereo pair
I have a pair of HomePod Minis that were set up as a stereo pair. The are running tvos 26.1. I needed to put the individual minis in different rooms so I broke the pair, waiting for each one to show up individually, and then did a reset of each one. Now they are bricked.
They will connect to my home, but will sit for hours in "configuring". If they do come back and I ask Siri to play a playlist, she will say "working... working... I did not hear back." Sometimes it will play random songs and still say it did not hear back. Then it will reboot and want to be set up from scratch again.
I have reset multiple times, removed from my home, removed them from iCloud, and even set up a test home and tried to join them there. Nothing. They connect, reboot, and just generally do not work. They were fine up until I broke the pair.
I attached them to my iMac, tried to do a restore, and get this message: "The HomePod "HomePod" could not be restored. Declined to authorize this image on this device for this user." Tried in my M2 Air and it does the same thing.
There is nothing wrong with the hardware on these devices, it is all software. Is there anything else I can try, or do I need to chalk this up to Apple's increasing quality control issues?
