Safari Reader, undesired background color to text

MacBook Pro, OS Sequoia 15.6.1

In Safari, Reader now shows pages with a pleasing light tan background, but when I copy text and paste it into another app, the background comes with it. (Screenshot at end. In Safari Reader the background is continuous but when copying and pasting from Reader the space between paragraphs has no background).

I don't recall choosing the background and can't find any Settings for Reader.

Is there a way to change this behavior?

Thanks.

You can use (Shift + ⌥ + ⌘ + V) to paste while matching the style of the destination app, which should get rid of the background formatting. Alternatively, to erase all the formatting (and this is what I generally do in these situations) you can open a new tab (⌘ + T), paste the text into the address bar, then select it all (⌘ + A), copy it (⌘ + C) from the address bar, and finally paste it into your app of choice.
