How do I resolve the 'Server responded with an error' message in iCloud Mail?

Why do I see this error message when trying to review my emails in iCloud Mail, and what do I need to do to fix it? Thank you in advance to anyone willing to help. I'm not very tech savvy as you can probably tell by my inquiry🫤...

It’s usually caused by incorrect login details or issues with the IMAP settings. First thing I’d check is whether you’ve got the correct email and password in your Mail settings. Also, make sure IMAP is enabled in your Gmail settings (you can find that in the Gmail settings under "Forwarding and POP/IMAP").

If everything looks fine there, sometimes Gmail blocks connections from apps that aren’t deemed secure, so you might need to enable access for less secure apps or generate an App Password if you have 2-step verification enabled.

After that, try restarting your device, or even remove and re-add your Gmail account in the settings to see if that clears it up.

Is this happening on your iPad? Or when you log into iCloud.com?

If it's happening on your iPad, the easiest way to fix this is to delete your Gmail account from your iPad and add it back. This will install a fresh set of settings.
