Audio for headphones, via Apple lightning adaptor, stopped working on IPhone 13 and 13 Pro after updating to 26.1 and 26.2.

As soon as my wife and I updated to the IOS 26 series...we have tried 26.1 and 26.2... we can no longer listen to music or podcasts unless we use the speakerphone, which of course is not doable 90% of the time (office, gyms, airports, restaurants, etc.). We have tried two different headphones, on both phones (IPhone 13 Pro and IPhone 13), and neither will play audio. Yes...we are both using lightning adaptors purchased directly from Apple. This has to be a sofware problem from Apple. How in the world does such a massive mistake slip through Apple QA? What is the time line on a fix for this?

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

It is unlikely that it is a software problem. It's more likely that there is a problem with the adapters or the headphones. Those adapters, especially if they are inexpensive ones, tend to go bad. Personally, I'd recommend that you buy headphones that are intended to plug into the Lightning port. Or Bluetooth headphones.

It is not the Apple provided adapters…

Two IPhones….a 13 and a 13 Pro, each with their own Apple provided adapter, and own headphone, worked perfectly prior to the update to IOS 26. Both were updated at the same time. After the update, both phones no longer play audio through the headphones that require a lightning adapter. Both IPhone’s have been tested with multiple headphones and adapters…and neither works. Settings have been verified on both and all tricks have been tried…airplane mode toggle, Bluetooth toggle, hard resets, etc.

I am a tech savvy person….and I work in tech space….this is 100% a problem with IOS 26.1 and 26.2. Poor QA procedures by Apple lead to these things.

If you believe you already know the answer, I'm not sure why you're posting here. This is a tech support forum. If what you want to do is complain to Apple, you're wasting your time because Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions.
