Apple TV login on TV following change of password

I changed my Apple password and now I can't access Apple TV on my home TV. I did get a QR code which I thought would enable me to login using my new password but now all I am getting is a message saying 'could not connect to Apple TV. Check your internet connection and try again.' My internet is working properly. I have shut down the TV and my router to reset everything but I'm still getting the same message. How do I login again on my TV?

You may be stiill signed in to Apple TV app with your old password (which no longer works)... maybe try logging out first, and then log-in with the new password.

To check you are signed in to your Apple Account with the correct Apple ID:

See how to: Sign in to your Apple Account on the web or in your device settings - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Sign in using the Apple Music app and the Apple TV app on your smart TV or other streaming device

  1. If you didn’t sign in when you opened the app for the first time, you can use Settings in the Apple Music app or Apple TV app to sign in. Use your controller’s back button or left button to open the sidebar.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select Sign in.
  4. Enter your Apple Account email address or phone number and your password.

You can also scan the QR code on the screen to use your phone to sign in."

Trouble-shooting steps are provided if nothing above has helped:
