AirPods not connecting despite charging

My left AirPod has stopped connecting to my phone entirely. It will tell me that it is charging and I can watch the batter go up, yet it won’t connect. I have reset them, cleaned the connectors, forgotten them and reset all Bluetooth settings he it still won’t connect. Before I go my newest pair I used these for two+ years with no issues.
