If you do not receive the replies you seek from the community, (or even if you do):

You may want to send feedback to reach those who work on the software behind the scenes at Apple.

They will likely not reply, yet your feedback will be carefully read and logged.

If Apple also receives feedback from others with a similar issue, we may see an update that fixes it.

The more feedback Apple receives on which hardware models and software version are affected,

the more likely we will see an update that addresses the issue.

Thank you kindly for your reply, and screenshot. Commiserations that your way or working has been upset. Sorry I don't know of a way to fix or work-around this issue.

Am using an earlier version of Mac:

am using Preview's Top menu's "Tools > Annotate > Highlight Text" (or "text Box" to make a note) to keep track of entries on bank statements. (May not work for you.)

As we are all Apple users, like yourself, in the community, Apple is unlikely to see your post, or any others that may exist, about the issue you experience.
