ive tryed all the trouble shooting advice

Wondering whether the external microphone is wired (connect to Lightning port), or wireless.

The manufacturer (or their manual) would know if the microphone is compatoible with your iPad or not.

We can not guess which particular advice you've researched, or which iPadOS is installed on your iPad 9.
