How do I resolve download issues for a game on an older iPad with iOS 16?

Hello. I have an issue with an older iPad (IOS 16). I have been playing a game for a year or more without any problems. Now, when I try to advance in the game, I need two small downloads which appear to happen but then returning to game nothing has actually moved forward???

I have contacted the developers of the game but I feel this issue might be related to Apple rather than Big Fish as the download is available but not being installed.

Can anyone shed any light?
