Manual Scanning: This requires at least two switches (or assigned actions) to work: one to move the focus to the next item, and one to select the focused item. The focus will not move until you activate the "Move to Next Item" switch.
Single Switch Step Scanning: This requires one switch to move the focus to the next item. If you don't take an action within a specified duration, the current item is automatically selected (tapped). This is more manual than Auto Scanning but still has an automated selection component.
