Lost files in iCloud Drive

Files app (and underpinnings) integrate with multiple different file services, including iCloud Drive, Mac or Windows or Linux or NAS file server offering SMB services, and with third-party file-hosting services.

iCloud Drive support is more directly integrated, and does not require an explicit manual server connection. Not past initially enabling the access in Settings, and logging into the associated Apple Account. Here is the setup for iPad:

As for the original issue reported, logging into the iCloud website directly and checking for the files would be a common test. If not deleted, the Files would be visible in the Drive section of the iCloud website:

That means you deleted it, doesn't disappear by itself.

I have also seen this. It might be my lack of iCloud knowledge 😀
