Photos import fails after folder selection

I want to import thousands of photos and videos from a folder.

In photos I select import

I select the folder I want

The photos app says there are 10.000 new items and a handfull of already imported.

I press import.

Nothing happens.

How are you supposed to do this?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.6

What does that mean?

Did pictures to review disappear? or did they just sit on the screen? Did you see a little circle like this:

Did you use "Keep Folder Organization?"
Did you try importing maybe 10 pictures? What happens then?
Did you try re-starting Photos and trying again?
Did you try re-starting the Mac?
Did these pictures come from a folder on your internal drive?
Do you have enough storage room to double the space the pictures use and still leave 10% of your storage free?

Let us know some details of what you saw a what you tried…
