Safari crashes at launch

Safari crashes immediately upon opening on MacBook Air, Catalina. Can’t even get in far enough to clear the cache or open any other page. Just started randomly. I am not tech oriented at all responses need to be pretty basic… Lol… Thank you in advance

Then restart your Mac while holding the SHIFT key until the Apple logo appears. This will boot it into Safe Mode. Check to see if you are able to open Safari then, and if so it is likely you have a third party process installed that is causing a conflict and that can be investigated further. Restart your Mac again normally to exit Safe Mode.
