HomePods randomly play

I am having issues again with my HomePods where they randomly start playing (in the middle of the night when I am sleep) and the volume increases to the loudest volume level. This first happened in September 2025 and it seemed to have either self resolved or the 26.0.1 update made it go away. Until last night. I was watching tv using my AppleTV and the volume would randomly increase. After being frustrated with this happening, I turned everything off and went to bed only to have the HomePods all randomly start playing music, Siri would even speak (without being spoken to) saying it was playing a station and the volume levels would increase. I live alone, so there is no issue of someone else speaking to Siri, especially when I am asleep. I live in an apartment building and am worried that the HomePods will randomly start blaring music when I am not at home leading to issues with neighbors and building management. I needed up unplugging every HomePod in my apartment so they would not start playing on their own. This is an EXTREMELY annoying and frustrating situation. I should not have to unplug my HomePods so they don’t randomly blare music. Anyone else having this issue?

I narrowed down which HomePods were causing the issues. I think it was my newest HomePods (2nd gen). I ended up resetting the HomePods to factory settings and then set them up again. This seems to have worked. So far for the past 24 hours the issue has not resurfaced. I am hoping that I don’t have to keep doing the factory reset every time. I’m also hoping that the next HomePod os update fixes this issue. I think it’s a bug in the software as this started when OS 26 came out.

Mine is doing the same this early morning/last night. Mine plays randomly in the kitchen only. I live alone and have sleep apnea so wear a face mask so I don’t talk to it…. But I have a individual Apple Music subscription so this morning on my way into work my Apple Music on my phone keeps pausing as I can only stream to one device at a time so I know it’s playing at home when I’m not home…so I have an Eero router so I’ve “pause” that HomePod until I get home.

in the middle of the night I also tried rebooting that HomePod but no luck

mine is the first gen HomePod mini. I just did a factory reset this afternoon and it’s still randomly playing music whenever it wants. I turned off any voice activation and it’s now talking to itself and playing music random. So again I blocked it from my eero and now it’s talking and complaining say it can’t connect online! 😂😂😂😂 this all started last night! Was fine before that! 😂😂😂 I have no idea what’s going on but I can’t wait for this next update for Apple to fix it! It can’t come soon enough
