Recovering a Pages document with mixed old and new text

How to recover unsaved pages document

I have recently saved a pages document which relied on amendments to a previously saved document text only to find that some of the new text was mixed with old text.

To find the new text complete I went to >Finder >Documents and typed in a generic term for this 'lost document' and there it was under the date when I thought I had saved it but not 'saved' in the Documents

If you had previously manually saved a Pages document, then that triggered autosave for that editing session. Pages remembers this for future edits and any changes you made to that document in future sessions would also be autosaved. Unless you remove content from a previously saved document, additional text added to the document will get autosaved and appear appended to the original content.

If you never manually save a Pages document, then autosave is never engaged and quitting Pages without saving also removes that temporary document content without any hope of recovering it.
