Cannot complete iCloud two-factor authentication after phone swap

i swapped phone like 3 days ago, i was asked to sign in icloud after moving my data from the old phone to the new one, i input my gmaiil followed by the password but cant get pass the two factor authentication. The response i have been getting is i should input a valid phone number. what could be the cause?

Your iPhone is asking for a “valid” phone number because the trusted phone number on your Apple ID does not match the one you’re entering.


Fix by:

  1. Entering full international format
  2. Trying the old number linked to the Apple ID
  3. Using another trusted Apple device
  4. Adding the new number in Password & Security
  5. Using Account Recovery if no trusted device/number remains
