Can’t upload photos to iCloud

Hello, when I try and upload photos to iCloud this appears and blocks me from continuing unless I upgrade my plan. I do not want to upgrade my plan. How can I upload 5.37gb of photos so I can update my OS? I do not want to delete my photos.

You can buy more iCloud Storage for one month and then cancel.
You can backup your iPhone to a computer Back up iPhone - Apple Support (EG)
You can save all your pictures to an external drive through the Files app.

Other things I think of would sound sarcastic…

You cannot. To upload the contents of the iPad you will either need more space in iCloud or need to remove photos from the device.
