Well, first you tell us what app you're using for your slideshow. There are a gazillion apps out there that could conceivably do this.

If you're using Photos to display pictures from your Library, then you're kind of out of luck, since Photos will scale each photo to fill the screen - the only counter to this is editing each picture to make make sure that all photos have the same dimensions.)

Alternatively, you could use something like Keynote to create a slideshow, where you have more creative control over image size and placement (as well as motion/animation, transitions, etc.).

Other apps may have other (or more, or fewer) options. for example, if you're using the built-in screensaver to show a series of pictures, they may show scaled to full screen (like Photos.app), or they might be oversized to float around the screen, etc.

So, without knowing which app you're using, it's kind of hard to be more precise.

Ahh-- you're trying to use the File>Play Slideshow, which is pretty worthless for anything I want. That's just not intended to be used to make a useful slide show. (I'm not entirely sure what it's intended for, really.)

But in Photos you can use File>Create>Slideshow>Photos, and you get lots of control. T

Select the pictures you want, and this produces a Project that's available at the bottom of the sidebar. Here are some of the controls that you'll find, if you want to adjust them,

including "Scale photos to fit screen." And don't miss the + sign at the bottom for adding text!

Let us know if this works for you…

Thanks, simply, the Photos app as supplied.

Keynote seems a good idea

In order to get the same sized images in a Photos slideshow you must use the Classic or Ken Burns themes. The Ken Burns theme is a moving over the photo theme. The Classic theme is the most basic and easiest to work with if you want uniformity in the slides.

My sentiments entirely, Richard. But occasionally I need to use the instant slideshow, because the slideshow projects are limited in another way. In a slideshow project all Live Photos are dead, and the videos are only playing correctly in the basic themes.

Only n the instant sideshows I can enjoy the Live Photos and see the fireworks shooting up unto the air, waves breaking art a beach, snowflakes dancing, a fountain spotting water, etc.

When I am starting slideshow directly from an album as an instant slideshow, at least some of the Live Photos will be animated, because Photos is creating a Memory Movie from the album (in the more cent system versions).

For slideshows without Live Photos the slideshow projects are much better, because we are having more control. Only the options to add titles are very limited.

When I want a more elaborated slideshow I am creating a Keynote Presentation. This way I can add the date, the location, and other comments on each slide, also individual sound effects.

Keynote is coming for free with every Mac and I can show the presentation also on my iPad or save it as a PDF file or a video.

That's interesting. I don't do Live much (usually by mistake,) but I just did a slideshow of Media Type>Live, and it was pretty cute! I almost thought that it wouldn't do the two-or-three-on-the-screen-at-once, thing, but then it started, and those pictures didn't Live. In fact, a number of pictures didn't move, and I had to go back to make sure they were Live Photos. I tried re-arranging them, and order didn't matter--the same ones didn't move.

I just want a quick slideshow to view an album and see if the ones I picked make sense. Active Live and video would be nice.
