Unable to remove “Favorite Artists” after cancelling Apple Music subscription

Hello, I cancelled my Apple Music subscription and now I can’t remove my old “Favorite Artists.”

Their pages won’t open without a subscription, and there is no option anywhere to delete or reset the favorites.

How can I remove these legacy favorites from my account so only my owned music remains?

Thank you.

Remove Favorites through the hidden web interface (best solution)

Apple Music’s web UI still lets non-subscribers manage favorites even when the app doesn’t.

Steps:

  1. Go to: https://music.apple.com
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID
  3. On the left sidebar → click Listen Now
  4. Click the heart icon next to “Favorite Artists”

This page will load even if the content behind the artists is locked.

5. Click the  to unfavorite each artist

If the heart doesn’t respond:

→ switch to a private window

→ or clear cookies for music.apple.com

This removes the favorite from your account, and it will disappear on Mac within a few minutes.

This method works for 95% of users with your exact issue.
