Siri not setting default alert for scheduled meetings

When I use Siri to schedule a meeting, the default alert (e.g. 15 minutes before) is never set, and the meeting is scheduled with no alert. This only happens using Siri to create a new meeting; the default alert is set with all other methods of creating a meeting.

Tell Siri the alert explicitly

Siri will correctly apply alerts if you say them:

Example:

“Hey Siri, schedule a meeting tomorrow at 3 PM with an alert 15 minutes before.

or

“Add an event at 10 AM tomorrow called Dentist and remind me 30 minutes before.

This forces Siri to include an alert.

I'm sorry, I don't have an actual solution for you.

When I was experimenting, I noticed that, if I had no default time set, Siri set it for 10 minutes. If I set the default time to something else, such as 15 minutes, it respected that. I have a feeling that the 10 minutes comes from Google Calendar, the account I'm using for my calendar. Are you using iCloud as your calendar account? Or something else? That might make a difference.

Things I might try in your situation: change the default alert to something else and try again. If it works, change it back. Turn it off and try again.

This is not accurate. Siri doesn't recognize the "with an alert...." or "and remind me...". Did you test this yourself before posting?

@IdrisSeabright your response is correct. I have tried making the request to schedule the meeting with the addition of an alert. If you request an alert 15 minutes beforehand, Siri will schedule a meeting of 15 minutes in length, making the outcome even worse with 2 mistakes: scheduling the meeting for a length that was not requested and still not including an alert.
