View photo added date in Photos library

Can I see the date a photo was added to my photos library (not the date it was taken)?

I want to know if this is possible because I am currently importing lots of photos into my library and it is all a big mess. Old backups and copies of backups and backups of copies as well as non compatible iPhotos libraries and so on and so forth.

So I sometimes want to see when the photo was added as well as taken.

You may want to get yourself the free trial version of PowerPhotos, if you do not yet own PowerPhotos.

It is supporting several nice ways to view our Photos Library, particularly the list view is great. In the list view we can display the currently viewed photos as a table with the dates and other metadata neatly arranged in column, so we can compare them.

And we can sort the photos by any column, just click the header of the column.

For example, sorting by the date added in PowerPhotos:

I am using PowerPhotos mainly for moving photos between Photos Libraries, but also for sorting photos by the filename or the size or the dimensions.

I have been using the "Date added" rule for the smart albums a lot, Richard. When I want to find the new photos that need to be backed up, I am using a smart album with the two rules "match any:

  • date added is after ...
  • date captured is after ... "

This way I can find easily all fotos that have been added after a certain data and can copy them to my archive library and export them to my collection of originals.
