How to obtain a valid GST invoice for Apple subscriptions in New Zealand?

NZ specific: I can't see anything in Apple Invoices or Receipts for subscriptions that states it is a GST invoice or the actual GST amount.

How do I get a valid GST invoice and/or receipt from Apple?

This is a common issue for New Zealand business users. The reason you cannot find a GST breakdown or a standard "Tax Invoice" is that Apple's system defaults to treating you as a Consumer (B2C) under New Zealand's "Remote Services" tax laws.

For digital services (iCloud, Apple Music, etc.), Apple is required to charge 15% GST to consumers but is not supposed to charge GST to registered businesses. Instead, businesses are supposed to handle the tax themselves via the "Reverse Charge" mechanism.

Because Apple charged you GST (assuming you are a consumer), they issued a consumer receipt, not a Tax Invoice.

In the USA any tax is included in a receipt as a separate item, probably because it can vary according to location. In the USA it is standard practice to add on tax separately. That is not my experience in other countries where it is a standard rate everywhere in that country and simply factored in the price that you see on an item. In New Zealand it is 15% There is no separate tax line. If you need something for tax purposes you should be able to use that standard rate for your calculations. If you need something special from Apple stating the tax you paid, contact Apple in New Zealand as I indicated earlier.

Here's a New Zealand reference for the tax.
