Can't back up to iCloud via iTunes. AMPDevicesAgent issues

Attempting to backup my iPhone 16e via Win 11, iTunes. Repeated attempts to backup to iCloud results in "Never been backed up to iCloud".

Support recommended that I install AMPDevices to do backups. Upon doing so, once the backup was completed I went iTunes to confirm that the iCloud backup took. But iTunes is no longer seeing the USB connection.

Figuring that the AMPDevicesAgent was the cause, attempted to uninstall, but my Program & Features program doesn't include AMPDevicesAgent.

Questions... How can I uninstall AMPDevicesAgent? As well, has anyone run across what started this, can't back up to iCloud via iTunes on a Win 11 PC?

You are not dealing with a normal Apple component.

AMPDevicesAgent is not an Apple product, not part of the official iCloud or iTunes system, and should not be required for iCloud backups.

To fix:

  • Stop AMDS
  • Delete AMPDevicesAgent folders
  • Reinstall Apple Mobile Device Support by reinstalling iTunes
  • Restore the official Apple USB driver
  • Restart Apple Mobile Device Service
