Emails lost by OS update

Previous accumulation of eMail cannot be found on MacBook Air M2 2022 since updating to Sequoia 15.6.1 ! Next update scheduled is Sequoia 15.7.2 but I am afraid I'll lose all of those old emails if I let that update to proceed. What to do?
