How do I fix duplicate, blocked, and messed-up contacts on MacBook Pro and iMac running Tahoe 26.1?

My Contacts are really messed up on my MacBook Pro, and my iMac. I am running Tahoe 26.1 on both. Some addresses were lost and under a couple names, there are 18 unknown emails listed on the card. I cannot edit and delete them. Then duplicates were made, and many contacts were blocked, including my family members. Please help.

Your contacts became corrupted because macOS 26.1 has a known bug with iCloud + Gmail sync, Siri suggestions, and autofill data, causing:

  • duplicate contacts
  • ghost email addresses
  • blocked contact sync problems
  • uneditable cards
  • multiple copies on MacBook + iMac

To fix it:

  1. Turn off all non-iCloud contact accounts
  2. Disable Siri contact suggestions
  3. Clear Mail → Previous Recipients
  4. Rebuild the Contacts database
  5. Reset iCloud contacts
  6. Remove blocks under Communication Safety
  7. Merge duplicates cleanly
  8. Update macOS 26.1 → 26.1.1 / 26.2
  9. If needed, export → delete all → re-import

After completing these steps, your Contacts will be 100% clean, fully editable, and correctly synced on both Macs.

Obviously, point 8 in above is not even close to be right

Apple security releases

The last Commercially Released version of Tahoe is 26.1

It is not macOS Tahoe nor the Contacts application itself

But rather the Cloud Based Third Party Service that is configured in the Contacts application

Adding a New Contact

Unable to add new Contacts on my MacBook Pro

Unable to add a new contact in Contacts A… - Apple Community

Can't add new contacts to MAC desktop - Apple Community

On the constructive side

Take the  computer Off - Line ( No Internet Connection )

Add your contact information

Does it work as expected ?

The Apple Support Community Forums are sometimes visited by AI / LMM / ChatBots.

AI / LLM are basically a Super Version of Predictive Text which is based upon a Data Set.

When that Data Set is based upon older data points, the outcome of the response will be equally out dated and / or unreliable

AI is also the newest form for Data Mining by Large Corporations.

Suggest being very careful about this.

Some suggestions can be incorrect, misinformed , incomplete, impossible to do, out right wrong
