Unable to update account settings on old iPad after Apple Account password change.

After receiving a series of phishing text messages claiming to be from Apple, I changed my Apple account password. I‘ve been able to update 6 of my 7 Apple devices (2 Macs, 2 iPhones, an M2 iPad Pro and an Apple Watch) . I cannot update the Apple account settings on my very old 12.9“ iPad Pro running iOS 16.7.12 (the last update it will run). When I attempt to update my account, it asks for me to enter that iPad‘s 4 digit password and then requests the 6-digit password of my 2nd newer iPad. The problem is that my newer iPad also has a 4-digit password. Nothing happens when I key in the 4 digits. I‘ve tried adding spaces and zeros but nothing works.

Will I have to change my newer iPad‘s password temporarily to 6-digits just to update my account settings on the older iPad? A hard restart didn‘t help.

Thanks

iPad Pro, iPadOS 16
