Without access to your Apple ID, you cannot use Find My or locate any device. Recover Your iCloud Account

A. Use Apple’s Account Recovery

Go to:

iforgot.apple.com

Enter your Apple ID email → follow the steps.

Apple may ask for:

  • Phone number linked to the Apple ID
  • Device passcode (if known)
  • Answers to security questions
  • Trusted device approval
  • OR start Account Recovery (takes a few days)

B. Once Your Apple ID Is Active Again

Immediately check:

Settings → Your Name → iCloud → Ensure Find My iPhone is ON for all devices.

2. Then: Try Locating Your Mother’s Old iPhone (iPhone 15 or older)

Once your ID is restored, use:

A. Find My iPhone (from any device)

Go to:

icloud.com/find (via browser)

OR

Use the Find My app on any Apple device you are logged into.

You will see:

  • Last known location of the phone
  • If it’s online or offline
  • Battery status
  • Location history (Limited)

B. If the phone is offline

You will see a message:

"No location found" or "Offline"

Then you can still:

  • Put device in Lost Mode
  • Show a message on screen
  • Play a sound
  • Get notified if it comes online

But Apple cannot track if:

  • Find My was OFF before the phone was lost
  • The phone has been erased
  • The Apple ID was removed
  • The device has no battery for long time

❗IMPORTANT

You must know the Apple ID credentials used on your mother’s phone.

Otherwise, you cannot locate it — not even Apple Support can bypass this.

🔧 If You Don’t Know the Apple ID of Your Mother’s Phone

You can try:

Ask Apple Support to Check the Device

If you have proof of purchase, Apple Support can:

  • Tell you if an Apple ID was used
  • Help with account recovery

Your description is very confusing. If your account is the one signed into your mother's phone then it isn't her phone, it is yours. An iPhone belongs to the owner of the account that is signed into it. If her account is signed into it then you do not need to have access to your account to help her find it.
