iPhone backup from iTunes will not restore backup on new iPhone because "there is not enough space on iPhone"

Hi, I just traded in a damaged iPhone 13 at the Apple Store and received a brand new one in exchange. I backed up all the data from my old iPhone to iTunes prior to trading it in for the new one.

Upon trying to restore the backup from iTunes to this new phone, I am constantly met with a message that says the backup could not be completed because "there is not enough space on the iPhone to restore the data."

Considering this is a brand new phone, how would I go about restoring this backup I made last night to the new phone? It seems like the iOS data and the System data are taking up space. Its a 128 GB phone, those two pieces of data leave the phone with 112 GB of data according to the system storage in Settings. The backup on the computer was found and it lists the file size as 107 GB. However, when I connect to iTunes, it claims the phone only has 104 GB of data available which seems to be where the error is coming from. How do I fix this?

I contacted Apple support and they seem so confused, one straight up disconnected from me after I made screenshots for him to look at.

Was afraid that might be the only option but you might be right. Might just pick up a higher storage phone soon and be done w it so I can restore my phone finally.

I'm considering using an app to try and do selective backup so I can retrieve some of my music files I have saved on the backup (I produce music which is why it was so vital for me at first). But for now I guess the rest of the old phone data will have to sit on this PC until the storage upgrade.

Thanks

An app which purports to do selective backup, should be avoided at all costs. There really is no app which can do that and then getting that data back to an iPhone without iTunes or Finder is a recipe for disaster. I'd remove that thought completely. Backups are all or nothing.
