iOS Mail disaster.

Let’s start with how to manage mail on my iphone 16Pro? I kept important old read emails in email on my phone. They disappeared with iOS 26. Where did they go? How do I revert to using and storing emails on my phone vs iCloud? I chose Apple products 28 years ago because it prevented email spam and viruses. All of that changed when Apple introduced the iCloud. The spam is out of control.

I mistakenly sent an email to trash. I tried to open it in trash but, the information is replaced with a message that says the content hasn’t downloaded (paraphrased). How do I restore the previous mail configuration? Mail is an app that didn’t need “fixed”. If it ain’t broke leave it alone, please. IOS 26 is the worst app updated I’ve seen in 28 years of Apple ownership.
