Unexpected scrolling occurs in Pages and other applications

I've tried all suggestions to keep my windows data from scrolling up, down and to the left, past margins, without my input. It's the same in Pages, Word, or Scribner. Same when doing NYT puzzles. When on FB, my info may scroll back to the beginning. I kept hoping updates would correct the bizarre problem. Someone suggested a software in the past for this issue. I may be willing to try now. Thanks.

Step 1 — Turn off Magic Mouse / Trackpad → test

If problem stops → device hardware issue. Replace or clean.

Step 2 — Remove stray Bluetooth devices

(Settings → Bluetooth)

Step 3 — Test Safe Mode

If problem disappears → third-party software is responsible.

Step 4 — Turn off Full Keyboard Access

Settings → Accessibility → Keyboard → Full Keyboard Access → OFF

Step 5 — Turn off “Natural Scrolling”
