MacBook Air 2020 (Intel) is completely dead.. help!!!

I purchased a MacBook Air 2020 (Intel) from a secondhand computer store. It did not have a battery when I bought it. After a week I was able to have a MacBook battery installed in the computer.

I’ve taken my computer with me out of the province, which has been through airport security & through scanners. Normally, Airport Security scanners don’t cause damage to the MacBook.

My issue is that I didn’t charge my computer for two weeks. There is no issues with the power outlet, my adapter or the cable. I plugged my computer in to charge it but will not power on.

There is no chime sound, no Haptic Touch. I had it charging for around 6 hours and it won’t power on. I can’t afford to replace my computer right now. I’m trying to figure out if I need to replace the battery or if the logic board has completely failed. I don’t have AppleCare so I’m trying to get an estimate of the care costs.

Is there anyone here who can help me solve this?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.7

The quality of third party Lithium batteries is extremely poor even when purchased from a reputable vendor such as OWC or iFixIt.

Letting any Lithium Battery completely drain to 0% charge for any length of time can damage the battery, but it is usually worse with a third party Lithium battery. And the longer a Lithium battery is at 0% charge the more likely the damage will be more severe.

Yes

Do not spend any more money or time trying to Fix this Laptop

The costs from a New Apple Battery and another Internal Parts will probably cost more that what you already paid for the computer

Return for a Full Refund

I do not know what one was thinking when purchasing a second-hand Apple Laptop without a battery

That should have been a Sign / Tip Off, this computer would be trouble from the very beginning

Purchasing a used or refurbish Apple Laptop is best purchased from Apple or an Apple Authorized Retailer

There is a lesson here about purchasing a used Mac with no battery from a "secondhand" computer store. Sometimes, the motivation to save money costs far more in the long run. Caveat emptor.

I only purchase used Macs from the Apple Refurbish store as these (so far) have arrived without any damage, in original packaging, and have worked reliably for years without issue.

Hello,

Sorry to hear that your MacBook suddenly gave up on you. My best guess is that if you didn't go to an Apple authorized retailer to get your battery, there is a chance it may have failed on you. Below are links to repair estimates and to schedule an appointment if you decide to get help.
