List formatting does not continue from previous

Creating a new Bullets & List Format > does not keep "continue from previous". Everytime I set the Format for a new line (somewhere) in the document, it starts from one an have to manually change to "continue from previous".

it also does not want me to actualize the FORMAT after I changed from "continue from previous" to "start from..".

WHY???????
