How do I fix Handoff not working between MacBook Air and iPhone?

Hi folks,

Handoff has stopped working for me on 2/3 of my devices.

I have an

2024 macbook air (Sequoia 15.7.1)

2024 imac (Sequoia 15.7.1)

iphone 13 pro

The handoff will work between imac and phone (both ways), but not imac and air or phone and air.

Have gone through all the pre-check stuff for resetting internet on phone, doublechecking the settings, etc. everything is toggled as it should be for handoff, there just is nothing between the air and phone or the air and air and imac.

I do have VPN on all three devices, it's the same vpn for all three. the problems between air/iphone remain whether that vpn is turned off, and makes no difference between working on the imac on or off.

Any help would be appreciated, some secret I don't know?
