How to restore on-screen keyboard in Message app after iPadOS 26.1 update while connected to Magic Keyboard?

After updating to IpadOS 26.1, the on screen keyboard is no longer available in the text message app while my iPad is connected to the magic keyboard. Can anybody help me fix this? Is anybody else experiencing this. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
