Identify which number a text came from for a contact
When a contact has multiple numbers, how can I tell which one texted me?

Messages hides which number a contact used once the thread is merged, but you can see the active sending number by tapping the contact’s name → info, using Siri, reviewing old message alerts, or temporarily removing other numbers from the contact. Apple does not display the sending number inline by default.
