MagSafe Battery Pack not showing status on iPhone Air
iPhone Air MagSafe Battery (Firmware 91.0.0.0) Not Showing Battery Status / No Animation — Is This a Firmware Bug?
I am reporting an issue with the new MagSafe Battery Pack designed for the iPhone Air (firmware version 91.0.0.0).
When the battery pack is attached to my iPhone Air, it does not show its battery percentage, and the MagSafe animation does not appear. The phone only shows that it is charging.
However, when I attach the same battery pack to an iPhone 14, the animation appears normally and the battery percentage shows correctly in the Batteries widget.
This indicates that the battery pack itself is not defective, but there may be a compatibility or firmware issue between the battery pack and the iPhone Air.
What I have tried:
- Rebooting the iPhone Air
- Removing and re-adding the Batteries widget
- Fully discharging and fully recharging the MagSafe battery pack
- Multiple MagSafe attach and detach attempts
- Testing the battery pack on another iPhone
- Verifying that other accessories such as Apple Watch and AirPods display normally
None of these steps resolved the issue on the iPhone Air.
Apple Store Feedback:
I visited an Apple Store, and the technician confirmed that the battery pack is functioning normally. They believe this issue is likely caused by a firmware or software-level bug affecting the iPhone Air. The technician submitted the issue to Apple’s internal Feedback/Radar system. They also mentioned that the fix would likely come through a future firmware or software update, which will install automatically once available.
My question:
Has anyone else using the iPhone Air MagSafe Battery Pack (firmware 91.0.0.0 or 90.x.x.x) experienced the same issue where the battery status does not show and the MagSafe animation does not appear?
Thank you.
