How can I get in contact with a representative for a refund?

I requested a $50 refund for an in-app purchase in a mobile game. It’s not a large amount, I know. Unsurprisingly, I was denied a refund—even after review. I now understand that Apple is highly unlikely to issue refunds simply because a customer changed their mind: “All purchases are final.”

I would have happily accepted the balance within my Apple Wallet, yet I can’t even contact anyone to propose a compromise. Everything feels automated, and it makes the experience cold and impersonal. I get why they want to avoid unpleasant customers—but that doesn’t apply to me.

As a first-timer, this really breaks any trust I initially had in Apple. If they can’t help me with a simple refund, how can I trust them with expensive products?

My question is: Is there any way to contact a representative? If not, I’ll simply refrain from using Apple Wallet again. It offers moot value when the third party involved is unlikely to help you.

You can contact Apple directly here:

Contact Apple Support - Apple Support

I suspect they will refer you to the refund page and have not seen where they override any decision that has already been made. You are correct that all transactions are final in the App Store. It is that automated process where a refund may be made, but it should never be expected.

To be clear the Apple Wallet is different than transactions made in the App Store. The payment method that is used for a purchase in the App Store is set here:

Add a payment method to your Apple Account - Apple Support

The Apple Wallet can use identical payment methods, but usually that is for holding cards used for Apple Pay to make tap to pay purchases at retail locations and also website purchases when Apple Pay is accepted.

According to https://reportaproblem.apple.com/static/en-us/privacy.html , if you feel you want to discuss a refund request with a person, try to contact an Apple representative by email —> “If you disagree with your final decision, contact dpo@apple.com “

Have you heard of anyone who has made contact with that method for a resolution?

I had used that link previously too until I realized the page is not linked from anything else in Apple's Site Map and oddly enough the copyright on the bottom of the page is still showing 2023. The URL has a strange "static" location. so I did not know if it was a live page actively used or only found by doing a specific web search.

Not, not until just now (see new reply from Nameru), but then I don't see many people posting it and not getting any final feedback from users is common on 99% of the threads. The response Nameru quoted, "This mailbox can only respond to privacy related matters," seems to belie the general invitation to, "tell Apple about issues related to your purchases from one of the Stores, which include App Store, iTunes Store, and the Store in Apple Books." I agree it has attributes akin to the oracle at Delphi but since Apple invites you to write to them…

We will have to hope we are kept updated as to any progress.

Thank you for this other option. I wrote an email to this address and so far I have only received an automated response thanking me for contacting them:

"Thank you for contacting Apple’s privacy team. Please accept this autoresponse as confirmation of receipt of your request.

This mailbox can only respond to privacy related matters.

Apple takes your privacy questions seriously. A dedicated team is reviewing your inquiry to determine how best to respond to your question or concern, including those inquiries received in response to an access or download request and you will receive a response as soon as possible. Where necessary your inquiry will be referred to Apple’s Data Protection Officer."
